About The EOA
The EOA was established in 2001, shortly after the introduction of Curriculum 2000 which had resulted in a major upheaval of the examinations system.
It was started originally by three teaching exam officers, Andrew Harland, Uday Patel and Roger Pointon, who wanted to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by their fellow exam officers and so improve their working lives. They saw the need for a strong peer support network and wanted to give a 'voice' to all exam officers.
Since 2004, as a result of funding from the DfES through the NAA modernization program, Andrew Harland and Uday Patel took on the task of turning this lobby group into a professional representative body for all exams office personnel. Having secured charity status they then handed control over to the newly appointed board of trustees in 2005.
The EOA now focuses on the professional development of members, a vital ingredient in the preparation for the challenges ahead with the proposed 14 – 19 agenda. The EOA has moved to their new offices in Reading and taken on a team to support their CEO Andrew Harland.

Examination Officers' Association National Conference Programme July 2007
The focus of this year's Conference programme is to further support the professional development of examination office personnel. This is in keeping with the EOA’s overall strategy to support our members in this vital, but often difficult role of delivering the exam system for Schools and Colleges.
Delegates will receive guidance, updates, practical advice and support from representatives of the Education Community as well as the opportunity to share knowledge and experiences with colleagues from their region.
From recent feedback members have commented that this year’s conferences should reflect more of their personal needs and concerns as developing professionals unlike other events where the focus has been purely on servicing the exam system.
Some of the suggested subjects include; Professional Development, Job Regrading by LEA's, the 14-19 Agenda and Customer Service from Awarding Bodies. Part of the day will involve delegates attending chosen workshops to debate and share tips with colleagues on the current 'hot issues'.
